Jim has held this position at Warburtons since 2008 and is responsible for a central planning team within a transport network delivering freshly produced bakery products to over 18,000 individual retail outlets each day, 7 days a week, 362 days a year. As part of the end-to-end Supply Chain team, he has developed the distribution planning function to incorporate the use of vehicle scheduling software and tracking systems to deliver sustainable improvements in efficiency and customer service.
Jim’s career in logistics and supply chain management began over 20 years ago with operational roles at Bullens (specialised/technical transport) and then Cearns & Brown (foodservice). Whilst at Cearns & Brown, he helped to create and develop the National Transport Planning function, and subsequently transferred this methodology to Brakes, following on from acquisition. This role was further enhanced to incorporate integrated planning processes for network optimisation, new business planning and the efficient integration of further business acquisitions.
Currently, Jim’s primary focus is centred on distribution strategy (within an ever changing retail landscape), route to market, customer logistics management and continuous improvement within the distribution operation at Warburtons. He is a qualified Prince2 practitioner and has significant expertise in the use of vehicle scheduling systems and distribution modelling principles.
